The sun has set and the day is done.
Your toddler sits in bed, pleading for another story.
She begs for a drink, juice or even water.
Without a drink, there’s no way she can sleep.
She requests a small snuggle and demands a bedtime song.
You stand your ground and listen from behind the door, as the pleas become screams.
Four hours have passed and you sink to the floor.
The cries eventually stop.
The whining becomes snores.
You may have won the battle, but the war will continue for sixteen years.
